Trees are Stella (mid-late variety ) , and Lapins (late variety) which taste quite similar. There may be the occasional other red fleshed variety. If you purchase more than one we will endeavour to give you a mix of varieties. Trees are unlabelled. They have not been Autumn pruned. Trees vary in age but are mostly around 15 years old and fruiting. Most are in a vase structure. They are approximately 180cm tall. Some photos show an example of some of the trees in mid and late summer 2022, and then some recent ones taken late May this year with Autumn leaves. We will take all care, however there may be some branch damage incurred during removal and stacking.
Trees are mostly in old-style, one layer fabric root restriction bags which may be not fully intact. Some bags are long and thin, others shorter and wider. We will remove trees from the ground when dormant, just prior to the arranged pick up date. Roots will be growing out of the material, but can be lopped off. They usually have a bottleneck where the root is narrow as it passes through the material. In our past experience, trees can be left above ground for a few days if you can water with a sprinkler to keep the root balls moist. If you purchase the trees and do not come to pick them up on the arranged date we will not be watering or tending them, they are your responsibility once purchased.
Trees are ready to fruit and are priced very reasonably. We take no responsibility for the ongoing health of the trees as that depends on many different aspects of care, planting, watering, pollination, pruning and such. All trees available for sale were disease free to the best of our knowledge prior to dormancy. We recommend a regular spray programme to control insects. They will need sprayed in late Winter, again prior to bud burst and possibly through the growing season if you wish to prevent insect and disease issues. We can provide information on sprays we use - including organic options. We recommend some form of rain protection during the ripening stage to avoid splitting/rotting.
Thanks very much! Cherry trees do take some care and effort - but the harvest is worth it!!
